A pocket door is a door that slides into and out of a hollow cavity, or pocket, in a wall. When opened the door will be hidden within the confines of the wall, by actually sliding back into the wall. Pocket doors can be utilized as space savers, to provide easier handicap access, or to help solve a problem situation. Basically any standard door in the 1 3/8'' to 1 ¾'' thick range can be used for a pocket door application.

The whole pocket door concept revolves around the frame kit. The frame kit consists of the track and hardware used to hang and house the door. The installation of the frame kit is most easily achieved in new construction. If you are remodeling you will first have to make sure you are not going to dismantle a load bearing wall to insert the frame kit. If you do not know what a load bearing wall is, stop and seek the help of a professional. Click here to view the installation instructions.
